Trickle Down Incompetence: How the Trump Admin Made The Kerr County Flood WORSE
These bad decisions have real consequences.
The tragedy in Texas was a lot worse than it should have been because of Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and the nonexistent leadership under Donald Trump’s incapacitated version of FEMA.
Think of it as trickle-down incompetency: it starts with Donald Trump, who makes the disastrous decision to appoint Kristi Noem to be the Secretary of Homeland Security. It trickled down from there when one of her most recent actions was to lay off hundreds of contractors at FEMA call centers, according to the New York Times, back on July 5. Because Kristi Noem has a new policy for FEMA that requires _her personally_ to approve any expenses over $100,000 (a comically low sum of money when it comes to the fact that disasters, annually, cost taxpayers nearly $200 billion), hundreds of calls from frightened Texans reporting on the Kerr County floods went unanswered.
Now, 120 people (and counting) are dead - up from the conservative 82 or so we stated on the Substack last week.
